iTunes users subscribe to 1 million podcasts in two days, Apple reports
Podcats may be a relatively new phenomenon, but if Apple’s iTunes experience is a gauge, consumers are embracing the new form of delivering content. In just two days after the introduction last week of iTunes 4.9, which helps users manage their podcast subscriptions, iTunes customers subscribed to more than 1 million podcasts from the new iTunes Podcast Directory, Apple reports.
With the new release, iTunes users can find and subscribe to podcasts, a sort of radio program delivered in a digital format to subscribers one at a time. With iTunes 4.9 , every time there`s a new episode of a podcast, it`s automatically downloaded to their computers and auto-synced to their iPods. iTunes also allows users to manage multiple podcast subscriptions with simple organization and display by episode and date.
ITunes has done what possibly no one else could have accomplished, propelled podcasting into the mainstream.
