As I watched the Red Sox lose to the Yankees the past two nights I fell into a typical Red Sox fan daze. Oh no! My cell phone would ring every time the Yanks scored. Calls from Yankee friends busting my chops. Meanwhile my friend Paul Sherer and I couldn't help compare the Red Sox to the US Ryder Cup team. The Yanks are playing the role of the Euros and the Sox are playing the role of the US.
What similarities: favored going in, opponents downplaying their team, and most importantly stacking up their top guns (Tiger and Phil) at the beginning. This same disappointing scene is playing out now in the ALCS. We're seeing it with the Red Sox their two aces Schilling and Pedro stuffed by the Yanks...Ouch.
Like the US Ryder Cup team, the Red Sox have the wind taken from their sails. A recovery at this point doesn't look good.
