VoIP is Hot
Just came back from walking the halls at VON (Voice On Net) conference and the VoIP market is red hot. Very serious players promoting either standalone technologies or integrated solutions. Established leaders like Juniper to upstarts like Astersks (open source PBX).
It was also nice to see Michael Powell, outgoing FCC chief, give his farwell talk - really a stump speech for his next high profile consulting gig. Powell has consistently advocated a free-market approach to VoIP specifically and to broadband wireless. "VoIP most clearly stands for what I've worked so hard to do," Powell said
VoIP is just another datapoint for the open source revolution. There should be no barriers to entry for anyone to provide access and AlwaysOn service.
VoIP is hot.
